Samwise Gamgee, also known as Sam, was a hobbit of the Shire. He proved himself as Frodo’s closest companion and the most loyal of the Fellowship of the Ring, and played a critical role in protecting Frodo and destroying the One Ring.

His sword was one of the Barrow-Blades, also known as the Daggers of Westernesse, that Tom Bombadil found in the Barrow-downs and gave to the four Hobbits when he freed them from the barrow. These daggers were originally forged by smiths of Arthedain in the middle of the Third Age for the war against Angmar.
